Banff Gondola Bloom & Brunch Festival

The Bloom & Brunch Festival is the Banff Gondola’s signature spring celebration at the summit of Sulphur Mountain. It combines the gondola journey, panoramic Rocky Mountain scenery, seasonal floral displays, live entertainment and a special mountaintop brunch experience. In 2026, the festival ran on Saturdays and Sundays from April 4 through May 31, plus Victoria Day on May 18.

Bloom & Brunch is designed around the transition from winter into spring. This is an especially interesting time at the summit because Banff can be beginning to green up in the Bow Valley while substantial snow remains across the surrounding mountain peaks.

Guests ride the Banff Gondola through the forest to the summit, where the combination of snow-covered mountains, changing spring conditions and expansive views creates a very different atmosphere from the busy summer season.

Floral Displays & Spring Atmosphere

At the summit, the experience introduces a colourful spring theme through floral displays and dedicated photo opportunities. The flowers and seasonal décor contrast with the rugged stone, forests and often still-snowy mountains surrounding the upper terminal.

The result is a lighter, celebratory atmosphere intended to make the summit itself part of the festival rather than simply a viewpoint.

Bloom & Brunch at Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen

A major attraction is the brunch experience at Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen, the casual summit restaurant with large windows overlooking the Canadian Rockies.

During the festival, visitors could add a buffet brunch to their mountaintop visit. The dining experience was offered separately from the general festival activities, with brunch bookable independently or through certain gondola-and-brunch packages.

The setting is a major part of the appeal. Instead of a conventional restaurant brunch in Banff, guests are dining high above the Bow Valley with mountain scenery surrounding the summit.

Live Entertainment

Live entertainment is another central component of Bloom & Brunch. Music and performances create activity around the summit while visitors explore, dine and enjoy the scenery.

This helps make the festival suitable for visitors who want to spend several hours at Sulphur Mountain rather than riding the gondola up, taking photographs and immediately returning to Banff.

Mimosa Bar

The festival has also featured a mimosa bar, adding a celebratory weekend-brunch element to the experience. Combined with the buffet and mountain views, it gives Bloom & Brunch more of a social occasion atmosphere rather than simply being a meal at the top of the gondola.

What Makes Bloom & Brunch Special

The strongest feature of Bloom & Brunch is its setting. Brunch festivals are common; having one 2,281 metres above sea level on Sulphur Mountain is not. The Banff Gondola summit provides views over Banff and the surrounding Canadian Rockies, turning the meal and entertainment into part of a much larger mountain experience.

It also gives spring visitors something distinctive between Banff's winter and summer seasons. Snow can still dominate the high peaks while longer days and warmer conditions begin transforming the valleys below.

Bloom & Brunch is essentially a celebration of spring arriving in the Canadian Rockies—combining flowers, food, music, mountain air and Sulphur Mountain scenery into one seasonal Banff Gondola experience.

Spring Photography

Bloom & Brunch creates some unusual photography opportunities. Visitors can combine colourful floral installations with the much larger backdrop of Sulphur Mountain and the Canadian Rockies.

Outside, the natural scenery becomes the attraction: snow-covered peaks, the Bow Valley, the Town of Banff and multiple surrounding mountain ranges can all contribute to the spring experience.

More Than Brunch

Despite its name, Bloom & Brunch isn't only about eating. Visitors can incorporate the festival into the complete Banff Gondola summit experience.

After brunch, guests can explore the observation decks, walk along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk toward Sanson's Peak, visit the interpretive areas, browse the summit shop and spend time simply enjoying the mountain views.

That flexibility makes the experience attractive to couples, families, groups of friends and visitors celebrating Mother's Day or another spring occasion.

The Banff Gondola was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip to Alberta. From the moment we boarded the gondola, the journey was filled with breathtaking views of the Canadian Rockies, lush forests, and the beautiful town of Banff below. As the gondola climbed higher up Sulphur Mountain, the scenery became even more spectacular. Every moment of the ride felt magical, and it was impossible to stop taking photos of the incredible landscape.

Once we reached the summit, we were amazed by the panoramic views in every direction. The observation decks and the boardwalk leading to the historic Cosmic Ray Station were well maintained and offered countless opportunities to enjoy the surrounding mountains. The fresh mountain air and peaceful atmosphere made the visit even more special. The facilities were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was very well organized.

The gondola was a great experience with lots of nature.

A must-visit in Banff!

A must-visit in Banff! The views are absolutely breathtaking. The gondola takes you to the top, where you can explore four levels with incredible viewpoints, walking areas, and a great restaurant. We went around 5:30 PM, and there was plenty of parking available. If you're visiting in the morning, parking may be limited, but Banff's shuttle buses make it easy to get there and back. Highly recommended!
